2017 was an amazing year.
I was actually HOME (not traveling for work every week), MAX was born (!!!), I was a SAHM for 7 months, and I traveled to Napa, Minnesota, Florida, Arizona, and Montana to name a few. I also finally worked up the courage to start this blog!
I know there are a bajillion bloggers out there…and like, what makes me special?! To be honest, I’ve asked myself that a million times. I follow so many different bloggers – from fashion to home decor/interior design to motherhood to food/wellness – and while I identify with parts of each and every one of them, I can’t totally relate to any specific one. I understand the need to find your niche and brand your business, but I kept coming back to the idea that there wasn’t a blogger or influencer in Milwaukee that felt like ME. The closest was some of my favorite fashion bloggers that live in Chicago…but Milwaukee is not like Chicago (some people may think that, but having lived in both I can assure you they are VERY different).
And thus the blog was born…a born and bred Wisconsinite, former big city girl (Boston & Chicago), career driven (Director level professional) turned stay-at-home-mom gal passionate about wellness, the latest fashion trends, decorating our new home, and raising my little boy without losing my sense of self (hellooooo rosé and Real Housewives!).
I learned a lot starting this blog, and I have some pretty big goals for 2018.
First and foremost, I want to continue to express myself. Being a SAHM and not talking to anyone or doing anything for yourself all day can be draining, and this blog gives me something I can do for me, which feels good.
I want to make (a teeny bit of) money from my blog. We keep a very detailed budget and know where every penny we spend goes, and I spent more getting this blog up and running than I planned for. So if I can make a little bit each month just to keep the expenses at bay, that would be great!
I want to connect with other girls in the Milwaukee area that I share things in common with. Where my health nuts at?! The girls that know corn isn’t a vegetable and fruit salad doesn’t have whipped cream on it (sorry Wisconsinites)?! My girls that thanked the lord when Nordstrom was put in (hallelujah) but can’t spend $100 on every item that goes into her closet?! The girls that are obsessed (literally, obsessed) with their babies but read some of the mommy bloggers Instagram captions and gag (sorry if that sounds harsh, but fo’ real)?! I shoot it straight…so if that speaks to you, let’s be friends 🙂
I have a lot of blog post ideas for this year (I have to write them down immediately or they are lost from my tired mom-brain in 2.5 seconds)…BUT if you have any suggestions for what you’d like to see and read, please send them my way!
Cheers to 2018!! xo, Al
