One year ago,
We hadn’t moved in to our house yet – we were living with my parents during our house renovations. We hadn’t finished the kitchen, started the bathroom, started the garage, redone the driveway and front stoop, or done any landscaping.
We didn’t have Axel – and weren’t even thinking about getting a dog.
We had just found out we were pregnant – and weren’t telling anyone yet.
A lot can change in a year, huh?! We now have a fully updated and oh so charming house, a 10 month old Great Dane that weighs more than I do, and a 4 month old baby boy with the chubbiest cheeks and biggest smile you’ve ever seen.
Oh, and I turn 30 in two months (eek!). I was just talking to my friends about having a 30th birthday party – it’s always difficult to get people together in early December because everyone is busy with the holidays, so I started planning early this year. I’m sure you’ve all heard of Minted and Shutterfly and probably used them for birthday party invitations, wedding invitations, save the dates, and holiday cards…but have you heard of Basic Invite?
Basic Invite is a cool new online stationary company that provides truly custom invitations. Think of their designs as a template – you can change the color of every element on the invitation, change the wording, move the position of the text, AND change the font, size, and color of the text.
While hunting for a design, I looked at their cool party invitations and formal sweet sixteen invitations (since there wasn’t a category for 30th birthdays, and I figured one of those designs would work for another milestone birthday).
Take a look at the before and after of the birthday card invitation I designed. Aren’t the diamonds PERFECT for a 30th birthday?!?! (hint, hint…husband)
Some of the other features that sets them apart:
- Almost Unlimited Colors – Once you select a design, you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options. The website updates instantly so you can preview your design and make sure it looks exactly how you envision.
- Custom Samples – After you’ve finished your invitation, you can order a printed sample of the actual invite so you can see exactly how it will print, as well as the paper quality, before you place your final order.
- Over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes – You can choose from over 40 different colors when it comes to their envelopes to make your invitation stand out even before it is opened. Plus, all of their envelopes are peel-and-seal so they can be quickly and securely closed (no more licking 100 envelopes!).
- Free Address Collection Service – They have a neat (and free) address collection service to request your recipients’ addresses. Simply email your friends a link where they can update their address, and get them printed on the envelopes with a return address for free.
The planner in me couldn’t help but start looking at designs for Christmas cards and Max’s first birthday party. Look how cute these are!
I thought the concept was so cool that I even partnered with them. Subscribe to my mailing list to receive a discount code! I’d love to see the cool designs you come up with – share them with me on Instagram & Facebook & Pinterest. Happy shopping!
